Hi folks,

Now that Freeserve/Wanadoo have made the original freeserve.* groups
read-only for FS/Wdoo users and created a wanadoouk.* hierarchy instead,
there are a couple of problems maintaining the webspace FAQ.

I don't have access to the new wanadoouk.* groups on any of the news
servers I use (this is crossposted to them in the hope that one of the
peers, etc., has the groups).

I am happy to continue to maintain the FAQ and update with new info.
However, as I cannot read the new groups at the moment, I will be
reliant on email for updates. I have set up a specific email address

fswebspace <at> operations.force9.net

for emailed info to be incorporated. The FAQ pages will be updated soon
with that email address and an administrative bite.

The FAQ remains at
<URL:http://www.pedt.demon.co.uk/faq/index.htm> (HTML version)
<URL:http://www.pedt.demon.co.uk/faq/fhwfaq.txt> (text version)

If anyone has info on, preferably free as I have paid accounts on too
many news servers already, news servers that carry wanadoouk.* then I
would appreciate it.

Also, if anyone wants to take over the FAQ and continue to maintain it
as a *neutral* source of information then I would happily pass it over.

newsreader.com

Havent subscribed or used any and only had a quick look to see if they
where available .

Theres about 20 of them or summit .

Havent had much email with the bloke but he seems decent enough if you
want try a email requesting free access only to be used as intended &
that you dont intend to download any binaries etc etc .

Just curious if this helped you out ? .
Unfortunately, no. Thanks for the thought though.

Looks like I might get them soon from my usual server.

I should hope so , If I had a pay news server that refused to add
newsgroups I wanted I would be offski without a 2nd thought for one that
did unless I had a VERY good reason not too .

Newsreader is on instant auto add and very useful at times .

Neither my usual news server nor the main subsidiary one are the pay
ones...

Newsreader is on instant auto add and very useful at times .
But a distinct disadvantage when it, like others, adds newsgroups just
because they appear in a twit's Newsgroups: line - a quick look gives
uk.net.web, uk.local.glagow, microsoft.public.uk.rec.gardening and
demon.waah for example.

If things expand in the heat and contract in the cold, is this why
daylight hours are longer in summer?

Why a distinct disadvantage ? , Do you ever see or look at all the other
50,000 newsgroups your usual news server has .

Whats the worst that can happen when you get new groups - you subscribe
to a newsgroup that nobody but the auto add servers have .
